Techno was born in Detroit (USA) in 1988 by mixing European electronic music (e.g. by Kraftwerk) with funk, electro, house and electric jazz. At that time the influence of futuristic and fictional themes played also a role in the development of Techno, in particular the book The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler. The relationship between the human being and the technology is central in techno music with the process of transferring the “spirit” from the body to the machine.
